Our news outlets appear to be filled with speculation on President-Elect’s vetting of a new Sec-of-State. Out of the 4 contenders floated through my outlets it appears as though Senator Clinton is a strong front runner.

While the Secretary post has not been filled a source close to the selection process said Wednesday that Obama has "informally" offered the Attorney General post to Eric Holder, who has accepted. This too is only speculation and is not written in stone. Holder served as deputy attorney general during the Clinton Administration.

Tom Daschle a key early supporter and savvy former U.S. Senate leader, has been chosen to overhaul the U.S. healthcare system, two Democratic sources said on Wednesday.

Finally, celebrities and political matters: It appears that the “in” trend is to openly support a political candidate or not. I have no quarrels with having an opinion but I draw the line when celebrities began to speak as though they have earned Master degrees within policy studies or political science. This mantra is brought on by Stephen Baldwin (yeah…) who openly supported McCain during campaign season and now released a statement that said “Obama is obviously talented and intelligent, and I have great respect for the man. He's got my full support, and I'm gonna be praying for him and his administration." Guess he didn’t want to fulfill his own promise of moving out of the country if Obama was elected president, oops! To make this post fair I felt the same disgust when the rapper Ludacris released a deplorable song “Obama is here.” Any songs that label a woman with words that are obviously disrespectful always fail to hold favor with me.

I have found that traveling during the holidays can offer both incentives and negatives. Last Christmas we decided to venture to Switzerland to take up skiing while soaking up the cold weather. What we found when we arrived (while maybe obvious to many) were closed shops, limited transportation, and a list of “to-do’s” almost completely null and void. We improvised and were even able to shop a bit a few days before New Year’s but the lesson we learned was to limit travel for holidays (universal).

This year we decided to stay within Italy. Venice offers a great New Year’s Eve celebration while New Year’s Day is the famous Auguri di Capodanno sulla spiaggia del Lido di Venezia. In short this is festival in which approximately forty people take the New Year's dip on the Lido Island! I gather that not only will this be exciting, but also great for pictures and entertainment.

Finally, I decided to spend Thanksgiving back home with family. This will be my first Thanksgiving there in 3 years, a little exciting! In the end the holidays represent many aspects to me. Family, love and above it all the celebrated birth of Jesus.

There are many questions in which are posed to me during the course of my marriage; the leading is “when are you all having children?” This question was recently asked (today to be exact) while I was shopping at the market. While I understand the natural curiosity associated with a not-so newlywed couple, my confusion arises when the inquisitors create a feeling of oddity when answered, “We aren’t thinking of children at the moment.”

Do not take my candor for a lack of fondness of children, however a child is not in our near future, Accomplishments must be hashed while traveling is yet in the boundary. We love our lifestyle. Children, for a lack of better phrasing, complicate matters. While waiting to pay for groceries earlier the only thoughts that inhabited my mind was “what is the problem with all these crying babies?!” Short fuse when it comes to this I presume.

The tale could go on forever on reasons not to have children at this point in my life, I will however, let the aforementioned points speak for this charge. For now, I will gladly enjoy life filled with wonderment and small responsibilities.

It’s been a few days since my last log and there are a number of reasons. Small holiday retreats coupled with finals in a few classes. Now that this is behind me I am back and ready for action!

I love travelling and whenever given the opportunity I will readily travel to a beautiful location vice purchasing a new wardrobe. I have travelled extensively through Italy but have finally visited Pisa, yes; this was my first visit to Pisa. I was in awe of the calmness of the day and the sheer beauty of Campo dei Miracoli (Field of Miracles). When preparing to enter we kept affirming what was obvious, “hey… the tower REALLY leans!” This was by far one of the best days to venture to this particular destination due to many reasons; the weather was perfect (sunny yet breezy), small percentage of tourists (easy to move around without colliding into individuals snapping pictures) and being offseason.

The best travelling advice I received once was simply, plan before you leave. This is true in every capacity. Even though we live in Italy we purchased many travelling books that assist in learning of various regions while offering suggestions on short-holiday destinations. Learning on the origins of your destinations, point of interest always assist in developing a well-planned trip with great memories!
